This blog is primarily a forum for me to share with friends and family around some topics that might be too personal to ask, or at times, too uncomfortable to talk about. It is an open space and I will discuss what I have learned about financial wellness, traveling and camping, and the in betweens of life in general. Feel free to ask me questions on other specific ideas in mind.
Hello, I am Mae Mariano. I am 29 years young, and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was born in the Philippines, and moved to the States when I was 9 years old. Currently, I work in the financial industry and going to school part time to become a nurse. (What a transition isn’t it?)
I am by no means a Certified Financial Planner, or a Chartered Financial Consultant, however, I have worked in the financial industry for over 10 years and I’ve acquired some knowledge about credit, retirement planning, and just overall financial wellness. Living in Las Vegas with all of the luxurious hotels and casinos, fine dining restaurants, elite clubs and the greatest entertainment in the world, it makes it quite the task to keep your money in your pocket. I’ve learned that you don’t have to spend every penny to enjoy living in sin city and at the same time, you don’t have to pinch every penny to save either.
Traveling is one of the most eye opening and fulfilling adventures anyone can experience. Fortunately, I’ve checked off a few items from my bucket list, Machu Picchu, The Great Barrier Reef, Chichen Itza, just to name a few and I have my travel partner to thank for also having quite an interesting list. Our wanderlust will hopefully take us to Japan for our next adventure. Stay tuned.
I am a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have been training for a little over a year now. I’ve got to say, the sport is very demanding both physically and mentally, however, it is also quite addicting. Think, playing Chess but with your body instead of the pawns and pieces. I am no expert at playing chess but I have heard this comparison often. It definitely is a game of logic, technique, and balance.
I hope that you all find the content in my little space informative, beneficial, if not empowering. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge with others, and my goal is to share what I had to learn on my own and would have appreciated someone educating me instead.
